Review of Darling Clandestine’s Arylide Perfume

Darling Clandestine’s Description of the scent: The image is Yellow Cat, by my aunt Pilar Acevedo. “This particular piece was inspired by a child’s fear of an old wives’ tale.” The fragrance is Arylide, a dream painted in yellow. Angelic plumeria and about ten other elements that comprise my take on late-summer sycamore leaves.

I have had this perfume since right after the release date. So I have had a long time to test this baby out, and oh boy, do I love this smell.

The fragrance is Arylide, a dream painted in yellow. Angelic plumeria and about ten other elements that comprise my take on late-summer sycamore leaves.
Now I am not the kind of person who describes scents by scent names, like calling a rose a rose scent.

I describe them usually by what it makes me think of or remember, but I will do my best while reviewing scents to do a little mix of both.

My initial smell right out of the bottle is harsh and sharp green and floral smell. Almost like the smell of wet flowers, but sharper not as subdued a smell.

The smell on my skin wet is less green and the sharpness is pushed way back. It now has this sweet floral smell coming out with a little spice to it.

The green smell has almost dissipated as soon as it went onto my skin. Right now it reminds me of sticking my face in those multi flower bouquets at stores. The dry down on my skin has brought back the sharp greenness I first got when smelling the open bottle, but still has that flower bouquet smell  underneath.

At this stage I get this tart apple like smell, but very very faint. I have not smelled this tartness in any other stage. Now just a disclaimer, most of Darling Clandestine’s scent do not last a ton of time on me, the usual wear time of most of them are around a couple hours at best. Both solids and oils. Arylide though it lasts on me forever. I can put this scent on in the morning and laying in bed at night I can still get faint whiffs of it.

To me this is absolutely amazing, but not necessary to me, but could be to some of you guys. The throw is also intense on this one compared to her other scents. So be wary if you like perfumes to cling closer to your skin This is just a little added bonus I just thought about telling you guys about are the other scents that I will wear alongside Arylide, because you know having a million indie perfumes you can’t just wear one all the time.

Good pairs:

      • DC’s Boss Fight & DC’s Inked
      • DC’s Halochrome & DC’s Serpentinaand
      • Sixteen92’s Supercell & Sixteen92’s Eternal Return

If you have an interest in me telling you how Arylide and one of these smells like together just shoot me a comment, and I will definitely tell you all about it. Also if there is a scent you would like to know how it smells with it. Just ask, and I might already own it. Especially if it is a Darling Clandestine scent.

Starting Again

Its hard to start again, but I guess we all do it over and over again throughout our lives and

this is just another start over for me.

Maybe this will be my last post or maybe I will post a thousand more times,

but I am hoping I will post.

That this will help me find something I keep losing

and that I am missing in my life.

Nothing really makes me happy anymore, because I am not doing the things that make me happy.

I want to change that.

Hopefully this silly little blog will help me do what I need to do in my life

to help myself out of this feeling.

This rut.

I know everyone goes through these things.

I just need to be done wallowing in it.

I need to change something.

To a new beginning…

Swatches and Review of Melt Cosmetics lipsticks in Blow and DGAF!

Image

I have been waiting ages for Melt Cosmetics to finally restock their lipsticks, and when they finally did I jumped on two shades I have been eyeing, Blow which is a new shade and DGAF.

Image

I honestly could not wait to put these on, being the kind of person who loves odd lip colors, especially blues and greens.

Image

DGAF on top and Blow on bottom.

The packaging is what you first notice, it is plastic, but has a look of rubber. Very sleek black with the Melt logo on the side in a medium purple. I actually really enjoy the look of the packaging, but with it being plastic it feels kind of cheap to me. Scratches and gets dirty very easily I have found out.

Image

DGAF is a darker version of a primary blue shade. I was expecting it to be darker, but I do enjoy this shade very much. I thought that with this being a semi matte formula it would pull at my lips, but it glided on my lips without a problem. After wearing it for a bit though it did start to feather around the edges so a lip liner seems like it is a must under this lipstick.

Image

What amazed me the most was that this lipstick did not extenuate any of the dry patches on my lips like a lot of matte lipsticks do. It did not dry my lips out and just felt amazing on.

Image

Blow is a nice deep forest green shade, which by the way I have been searching for for what seems like forever. This shade has almost the same properties of the other shade, but this one does seem to tug at my lips a bit while putting it on. This one will also need a lip liner, because after a bit it started to feather.

Image

Both of these lipsticks from Melt have this sweet scent, and to me taste like play dough (heh). I do not really find this distasteful but some people might so I thought I would mention it. Both of these also leave a very heavy stain on my skin after removing the lip color. I do not mind this also, because it will fade better that way.

Overall I absolutely love these lipsticks and I am glad I made the plunge and purchased, because now I have a list of other shades I want to try, including: 6six6, Space Cake, and Bane. I love the formula and they feel moisturizing on my lips and do not feel like a normal matte lipstick (like drying out my lips). I would definitely recommend Melt Cosmetics if you enjoy matte lipsticks in odd and not so odd shades! Check the out: http://www.meltcosmetics.com/
